Different approach: Engineering and management

February 22nd, 2009 alex No comments

I found interesting posts here and  here  and was surprised by the difference in approach between blog posts and this news.
On one stage we have a developer, who is testing modern frameworks in several programming languages in order to choose one for his new project.
On another we have software company, buying off the shelf framework and releasing project with major design flaws. One would assume that software developing company should have at least one software architect, should they?
Listen to sales pitch, but test before your buy. Don’t make your decision just based on sales pitch. I like to commit to something before testing, but I hope I can force myself sometime.

RF engineering today

I have a brand new cool piece of kit Anritsu MS2691A with optional signal generator inside. Apart from playing with it for the last two weeks, we spend half of the day with my prof trying to get the thing working.
You will be surprised to know that in order to understand how modern kit works you need additional Markoni 2300 signal generator and Tektronic 125 MHz oscilloscope.
Nice. Time spread for equipment is huge, Tektronic being dated back to fifty years.
